This year’s European Day of Languages saw Lingotot franchisees across the UK coming together to celebrate languages, cultures, and diversity in wonderful and creative ways. From online festivals to in-person school events, the day was full of exciting activities that inspired children and highlighted the joy of language learning. Here’s a look at how some of our fantastic franchisees marked the occasion.
Lingotot’s European Day of Languages Online Festival
For the sixth year in a row, Lingotot hosted its popular European Day of Languages Online Festival, which brought together children and families from around the world for a fun-filled day of language learning and cultural discovery. The virtual festival featured live classes and workshops, where participants could explore a variety of languages including interactive games, storytime sessions, and songs.
Lingotot South Staffordshire’s Community Celebration
Lingotot South Staffordshire hosted a fantastic event with 85 children from 8 local schools to celebrate the European Day of Languages. The day was packed with fun language activities and even local MP Josh Newbury stopped by to show his support, recognising the importance of language learning for the community.
The event was full of laughter, learning, and connection as the children explored new words and cultures. Amy’s commitment to creating an inclusive, fun atmosphere really shone through, and the day was a wonderful success for all involved.
Lingotot Wakefield’s Multi-School Extravaganza
Lingotot Wakefield held their biggest EDoL event yet, welcoming 200 children from 20 schools to an exciting multi-school celebration. The event started with children collecting passports and passing through ‘security’ to begin their language journey, and from there, the day was jam-packed with fun activities.
Children cycled (on exercise bikes) across Denmark’s cycle paths, built their own Eiffel Towers, learned to order food in Italian, and even took part in a mass dance to "Las Ketchup". They also cracked spy codes through puzzles and explored the longest Welsh word with running dictation. The teachers were full of praise for the event, and the children loved it so much that they wished it could have lasted the whole day!
The event wrapped up with goody bags for every child, ensuring that the learning didn’t stop when the event ended.
Lingotot Darlington’s School Visits
It was a busy week for Lucy of Lingotot Darlington, who visited four different schools to help them celebrate the European Day of Languages. Lucy received a warm welcome at Prince Bishops Community Primary School, where she worked with Reception and Nursery children. She also visited The Dales Partnership, where she engaged with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stage 1 (KS1) students.
Lucy shared how much she enjoyed meeting the children and teachers at each school, and how brilliantly the children embraced their language learning sessions. "Bravo!" she said, reflecting on the fantastic effort put in by everyone. Lucy’s enthusiasm was contagious, and her visits left a lasting impression on the young learners, who had a brilliant time discovering new languages.
The European Day of Languages is always a highlight on the Lingotot calendar and we’re already looking forward to next year’s celebrations!
