My name is Sophie and I live in lovely Matlock with my husband and my three children who are 9, 6 and 3.

I have always loved languages from a young age after family holidays camping in France. I can remember the excitement of looking at signs and leaflets and being able to understand different words. I studied French and Spanish at A Level and continued my Spanish studies at the University of Leeds. One year of my degree was spent studying in beautiful and exciting Mexico where I did lots of exploring and visiting cities, coasts and ancient ruins. I wanted to share my passion for languages and culture with others and so I became a secondary school teacher and taught in two brilliant schools for 13 years.

I absolutely love teaching, but I have always believed that language learning should start earlier than secodary school and so I decided to look into how I could share my passion with children of a similar age to my own children. My girls, aged 9 and 6, have shown a real interest in learning Spanish since I have set up my Lingotot franchise after seeing me practising lots of songs and I have been impressed with how well they have picked them up after only a few times of hearing them. I am so excited to bring this to our local community and hopefully inspire lots of local little linguists!

Lingotot lessons are a delightful mix of songs, games, stories and crafts and are taught almost entirely in another language. Grown ups do not need any prior knowledge and will not be made to speak at all (unless they want to!) in Spanish or French. The structured lessons are delivered in an interactive way to encourage understanding and instil a love of language learning. You will have so much fun learning a new skill alongside your little one.

Lingotot Matlock will be offering community classes for children 0-4 and their grown ups, adult beginners classes, lessons in nurseries and pre-schools and KS1& KS2 Primary lessons.
